Please update your bookmarks. The new photojournal will be located at www.markeric.com . We will keep all old entries posted on this site, but we will be posting all new entries on our new site.

Be sure to check it out. We just added Kim and Kenny. This week, we’ll also add Danielle and Andrew’s wedding, as well as Tessa and Chance’s wedding.

So, I’m not a member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) yet.

When I started shooting, I glanced through some of the member’s websites, and thought that the organization consisted of stiff traditional photographers- (you know, painted muslins and Seniors in front of Styrofoam Numbers with stuffed animals on top). Because I thought they promoted a different style than mine, I never joined. I now know this preconception isn’t entirely true. I know many great creative artistic photographers who are members- and I do plan on joining for the legal benefits that they offer.

The PPA produces the biggest magazine in the photography industry (not just for weddings, but for all genres of photography). I interviewed with them last month, and they ran the article the current issue- featuring a full page spread of one of my pictures. Since I’m not a member, I don’t subscribe to the magazine, but I would really like to see a copy. So to all my photographer friends who read the blog- please e-mail me a picture of the article if you have the magazine. Of course, you can mail a copy to me as well if you’re feeling really generous.

I had the chance to hang out with my good friends, Steven Schaefer (videographer), and Adam Hudson (photographer from Jackson MS)- who came down to help shoot Mike and Joye’s wedding. Sunday morning, before we met the wedding party at The House of Blues, we took a stroll around the French Quarter for some fun shots.

Adam:

more to come soon 🙂

Joye and Mike came from Florida, and brought their friends and family to The Big Easy for an elegant three day celebration. When we first talked several months ago, I recommended that they use one of my good friend in Florida for their engagement session. I was thrilled when I saw what an amazing job Scarlett Lillian with Captivating-Studios did, but of course, she had a GREAT couple to work with. Check out their slideshow from Captivating-Studios here.

Their 3 day celebration started out with a delicious rehearsal dinner at Antoine’s in the French Quarter on Friday Night. Their wedding was held at one of my personal favorite places to stay in New Orleans- Le Pavillon . Then Sunday, they rented the House of Blues for themselves as everyone enjoyed a great meal and soulful music. It truly was an amazing weekend. Have a great time in France Mike and Joye- it was a pleasure working with you!

I received an e-mail from one of the guests, who shot this picture of me – Love it, thanks Eddie!

I’ll have the opportunity to shoot D’Ann and Grant’s wedding this October. This is a great couple who have devoted themselves to the ministry. I’m sure great things are in store for you guys, can’t wait for the wedding! (these were actually shot a few months ago)

Britney was so beautiful, which isn’t anything out of the ordinary. She and Chip were married in Shreveport in a gorgeous ceremony. I always enjoy working with kids, and I couldn’t have asked for better kids than those at this wedding. We even took Mini-Bride and Mini-Groom out for session of their own. I also had the honor of shooting with my friend from Natchitoches, Chris Reich. Thanks Chris!

Hot Couple, Hot Car, on a Hot day- complete with one adorable little girl. Congrats guys- it was great meeting you!

Ali was a beautiful bride, and my wife and I fell in love with the gown she picked out. She and Justin were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria- with an elaborate reception at The Diamond Grill– my new favorite restaurant in Alexandria. Congrats guys, I hope you had a great Honeymoon!

I want to thank a hot up and coming photographer from Alexandria for joining me… Andria Fontenot. Andria, I look forward to working with you more in the future- you have some serious talent! I had also had the pleasure of working with Steven Schaefer, a good friend and a fantastic videographer.

A beautiful weddng, a trolley ride to the reception at the Antique Car Museum, and fun with Photo Booth-
I loved working with you guys!
